Update: April 4th, 2009

Our little girl Baxter has found the most perfect forever home.

She is one lucky dog.  After she came to the program she developed what appeared to be another bladder infection.  After another long course of antibiotic's she had not improved.  A decision was made to have an ultrasound done to figure out what was causing her discomfort.

Well, the good news was…it was treatable, she had several large bladder stones, that bad news was... it would cost over $1,300.00 to surgically fix her.  The only other choice we had was to euthanize her.

That was not an option!!  So the surgery was done with the financial help from several of Baxter's fans and she has completely recovered from her ordeal.

Seven weeks ago when Baxter was at The Adoption Outreach that is held at the Feed Barn, a very nice couple fell in love with Baxter.  At that time, they would not be able to take her and could only hope that she would still be available when they moved up to Amador County the first week in April.

Because of Baxter's surgery, she would not be available for adoption until the end of March so all worked out perfectly.  Baxter feels great and she has a new family to boot!  Good luck little girl and be sure to stop by to visit all of your two and four legged buddies.

Baxter Arrives at Twin Cedar

Baxter comes to Twin Cedar K-9 Second Chance Program. We have known Baxter since she was two years old.She is now ten years old and is desperate for a new home.

Baxter is a Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd cross. Her owners have moved to Elk Grove from rural Amador County and poor Baxter wants nothing to do with city living. She is a country girl through and through!

Baxter is a very sweet and loving little dog that has really mellowed in the past few years. She is a very obedient dog who wants to please whoever she is with. In the past, Baxter did not get along well with other female dogs but since she has been at the ranch we have seen nothing but appropriate behavior from her.

She is living with our Claveras boy, Shane (aka Gomer) and just loves to play and just hang out with him. Baxter was a little rusty with her obedience when she first arrived but it only took a few lessons to refresh her skills.

She will even work reliably off lead! She has a perfect heel with an auto sit when her handler stops. She will sit and down from the side and front, comes when called and knows both her finish right and left. She even knows how to perform the in motion sit and down.

Baxter is housebroken, current on her vaccines and heartworm prevention and is spayed. She is good with children and was raised with cats. She loves to go for car rides and just hang out and be someone's buddy.

She would do best if she had a little property to run and play on or have a person or family to call her own. Because Baxter is a mature girl, she say's she can keep her nose clean and stay out of trouble!

If you have room in your heart and home, for this very sweet older girl, please give us a call to come out and meet her. You won't be sorry!!
